ScreenSort — Privacy Policy

Effective 11 October 2026

The short version

ScreenSort reads your screenshots, photos and videos on your iPhone to sort, search and measure them. We do not upload this content. During onboarding, we create an anonymous Firebase account to count app users; you do not need to provide a name, email address or password.

What the app accesses

Photos: with your permission, ScreenSort reads your screenshots to recognise their text and sort them, and reads the size of your photos and videos to show how storage is used. It deletes items or creates albums only when you ask it to.

Microphone and speech recognition: used only while you search by voice. Speech is recognised on your iPhone when your device supports it. On devices that do not, Apple’s speech recognition service processes the audio under Apple’s privacy policy.

Face ID: if you turn on the app lock, iOS confirms it is you. ScreenSort never receives your Face ID data.

What is stored, and where

ScreenSort keeps an index on your iPhone: the text found in each screenshot, its collection, details such as dates or codes, small thumbnails, and file sizes. Your settings and the collections you create are stored the same way. This data stays in the app’s private storage on your device and is removed when you delete the app. If you use iPhone backups, it may be included in your own backup.

What we do not do

We do not show ads, sell data or track you across apps or websites. ScreenSort does not send your screenshots or their text to Firebase or any cloud AI service.

Anonymous accounts

Firebase Authentication stores an anonymous user identifier and account metadata, such as creation and last sign-in times, so we can count registered app users. Firebase processes connection information needed to provide authentication. The sign-in session is stored securely on your device and reused. Deleting the app does not automatically delete the anonymous account stored in Firebase.

Usage analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand screen visits, feature usage and operation outcomes. Events include operational metadata such as item counts, subscription state and numeric error codes. We do not include screenshot content, extracted text, search queries, album or collection names, photo identifiers or voice transcripts. Firebase also collects technical information such as app-instance identifiers, device information and session activity.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We learn whether a subscription is active on your device; we never see your payment details.

Deleting things

Photos and videos you delete in ScreenSort go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where you can restore them for 30 days.

Children

ScreenSort is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with a new date.
