Tallyo is built to keep your money records yours. This is what the app stores, what leaves your iPhone, and what you control.
On your device
Your transactions, categories, name, avatar and preferences are stored on your iPhone. Receipt images are read on the device and are not kept with your transactions. When you pick a photo, the app can see only the image you choose.
Receipt scanning
When you scan or import a receipt, the text recognised on it is sent securely to our extraction service and processed by a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) to find the amount, date and merchant. The image itself is not uploaded. Please don’t scan anything you would not want processed this way.
Optional cloud backup
If you turn on cloud backup with Premium+, your transaction details are stored with our cloud provider (Google Firebase) under an anonymous account tied to this device. Images are never backed up. Turning backup off stops future uploads; it does not delete what was already backed up. Reinstalling the app or changing phones may lose access to the backup, so export a report first.
Purchases and diagnostics
Apple handles subscriptions and payment details; we never see your card. The app may collect basic diagnostics and usage information to keep it reliable. It does not log your receipt text or transaction contents.
Your controls
You can delete any transaction from its detail screen; with backup on, the deletion is also queued for the cloud copy. Face Lock protects the app with device authentication. Notifications are scheduled on your device and only when you turn them on.
